Rental agreement
Rental agreement
Version 1.0 · effective 21 August 2026
The terms every hire from this shop is made under.
Review before publishing. This is a starting point, not legal advice. Have it checked against the law where you operate.
1. Who this agreement is between
These terms cover every hire between Northgate Plant & Tool Hire ("we", "us") and the person or business named on the booking ("you").
2. Collection and return
Equipment is available from the start time on your booking and must be back with us by the return time. Returns are checked in at the counter; the hire does not end until that check-in is complete.
3. Condition
We photograph every item at collection and again at return. Those photographs, with their timestamps, are the record of condition we both rely on. You are welcome to a copy of either set at any time.
4. Your responsibilities while the equipment is with you
- Use the equipment only for what it is designed for, and only by people competent to operate it.
- Keep it secure. Loss or theft while it is in your care is chargeable.
- Do not modify, repair or sub-hire it.
- Report any fault immediately rather than continuing to use it.
5. Deposit
We hold a refundable deposit for the duration of the hire. It is released on a clean, on-time return. Where we claim against it, we itemise exactly what for and attach the photographs the claim is based on.
6. Late returns
A grace period applies after your return time. Beyond that, late fees accrue at the rate shown on your booking. Equipment held significantly past its return time may be reported as a loss.
7. Damage
You are responsible for damage beyond fair wear and tear. We charge the cost of repair, or the replacement value where repair is not viable, and show you the evidence for either.
8. Cancellation
Tell us as early as you can. Our cancellation terms are shown at the time of booking.
9. Liability
We are not liable for indirect losses, including lost work or lost profit, arising from equipment failure. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
