Damage & deposit policy
Damage & deposit policy
Version 1.0 · effective 21 August 2026
How deposits are held, released and claimed against.
Review before publishing.
How the deposit works
When you book, we place a hold on your card for the deposit amount shown. A hold is not a charge — the money stays yours, it is simply ring-fenced until the equipment is back.
When equipment comes back clean
We release the hold the same day. Depending on your bank, it clears from your available balance within three to five working days.
When something is damaged
- We photograph the damage at return, next to the photograph taken at collection.
- We itemise what is being claimed and why.
- We claim only that amount against the deposit — never the whole hold by default — and the rest is released.
- You get the itemised claim and the photographs by email.
Fair wear and tear
Blunted blades, worn grips, scuffed casings from normal site use: not chargeable. Cracked housings, bent shafts, water ingress, missing parts: chargeable.
If you disagree
Reply to the claim email. We keep every photograph tied to the specific unit and the specific hire, so a disagreement is normally resolved by looking at the same two pictures together.
